Nothing Left to Prove

I have released the need to prove myself. I feel the relief of that release as a physical softening — something I was holding has been let down. I am exactly who I am, and that is enough. I do not check whether others approve. I do not revise myself to match expectations. I feel the peace that lives on the far side of that habit. I move through my days with a lightness that comes from no longer carrying the weight of other people's impressions of me. I am free from that now. The peace this creates is real and it is mine. I feel it in my chest, in my breathing, in the way I meet the world with open hands.
